Iringa Municipal Council is one of the five Councils in Iringa Region. Iringa Municipality has an area of 331.4 square kilometers. The Municipality of Iringa is located between latitude 7o77′ South of the Equator and Longitude 35o69′ East of the Greenwich line. Iringa Municipality is bordered by Iringa Rural District on the North, West, South and Kilolo District Council on the East.
Administratively, Iringa Municipal Council has 1 Division, 18 Wards, 192 Streets and one Constituency for Member of Parliament which is Iringa in the city (Nafasi 50 za kazi Halmashauri ya Manispaa ya Iringa)
Iringa Municipal Council in collaboration with stakeholders is determined to facilitate the provision of quality and sustainable social and economic services to its residents. Iringa Municipal Council intends its residents to live a better and sustainable life.
The Iringa Municipal Council is made up of 18 elected Councillors, Honorable Members of Parliament for Iringa Urban Constituency, Honorable Members of Parliament 2 special seats and Councilors with six (6) special seats, 13 Heads of Departments, 6 Heads of Divisions and the Municipal Director who is the Secretary of the Council.
