TAMISEMI Form five Selection Mbeya Region, The establishment of the Ministry of Regional Administration and Local Government (TAMISEMI) is enshrined in the Constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania Article 8 (1) 145 and 146 of 1977 and many other amendments thereafter.

In 1982 under the Parliament of the United Republic of Tanzania passed the Local Government Authorities Act No. 7 (Cap 287) and the Urban Authorities Act No. 8 (Cap 288). The two laws empowered the Minister responsible for Regional and Local Government Administration on the establishment of District, Village, Small Town, and Local Government Authorities.

The role of TAMISEMI is to coordinate and supervise regional development management and administration. TAMISEMI coordinates rural and urban development management policy and strategies; coordinates Regional Secretariats activities and builds their capacity in institutional development strategies for integrated socioeconomic development and finance.

The Ministry also coordinates and supervises development planning and sectoral interventions on donor supported programmes at district and other local levels; issues ministerial guidelines to Regional Secretariats and Local Government Authorities; and strengthens the channel of communication and information flow between the national and sub–national levels.

Form five selection 2022 Mbeya

Mbeya Region is one of the four (4) regions located in the Southern Highlands of Tanzania. The other regions are Rukwa, Iringa and Ruvuma. Mbeya Region was established in 1961 and was known as the ‘Southern Highland Province’ to include some areas of Iringa and Rukwa regions.

The region has an area of km. 63,617 square meters Out of those km. 61,783 square meters are of land and km. 1,834 square feet is a water area. According to the Population and Housing Census conducted in 1967 the region had a population of 969,053, the 2002 Population and Housing Census had a total population of 2,063,328.

As of 2010 the region was estimated to have 2,662,156 people. Mbeya Region is located southwest of the Southern Highlands region of Tanzania. The region is located in Latitude between 7º and 9º 31 ’south of the Equator and Longitude between 32º and 35º east of Greenwich. The region borders Zambia and Malawi to the south, Rukwa Region to the west, Tabora and Singida regions to the north and to the east to Iringa Region. The town of Tunduma in Mbozi District and Kasumulu in Kyela District, makes entry points to and from Zambia and Malawi.
