1. Teaching Volunteers
The Volunteer Programme gives an opportunity to choose between volunteering to teach students of primary school or pre-school at HBS. We also accept volunteer in other fields like marketing, communication and accounts. The candidate for this programme among others is expected:-
- Teach English, Math and other subjects, organize games and arts
- Share your love and care with children
- Share your culture and empower children
- Provide support for extracurricular activities
You do not have to be a professional teacher, you simply need to be an open heart and a desire to improve the individual understanding of children and adults of academics and the world in general.Once you qualify, the institution will provide:-
- Flight ticket (for foreign) or bus ticket for local transport
- Shared house in kigamboni, with each person allocated a private room
- Meals will be provided during work days and meal allowances for weekends and public holiday
Qualifications
- Completed or in progress collage degree or diploma in any field
- Passion for teaching, sharing knowledge.

2. Deputy Head of School
The Deputy Head of school will work with the Head of school and Governing Body to maintain an environment that promotes and secures excellent teaching, effective learning, high standards of achievement and excellent behavior.In addition to carrying out the professional duties of a teacher, the Deputy Head of school will:
- Have a major role in the leadership of Hannah Bennie School.
- Have a core responsibility for teaching and learning through the school.
- Work alongside the Head of school to enhance a positive culture.
- Work in partnership with the Head of school to sustain an ethos where there is a continuous drive to improve standards and achievement through a vibrant and creative curriculum.
- Assume the duties of the Head of school in his absence.
Qualifications
- 5+ years’ experience as a senior primary school teacher
- Excellent communication and instructional skills.
- Diploma / Bachelor Degree in Education
3. Deputy Head, pre-school/nursery School
The deputy head of pre-school/nursery school will work with the Head of pre-school to co-ordinate and develop the vision, values and principles of the pre-school across the range of early childhood services within and outside the school to ensure high quality integrated services are available to all children and their parents. In addition to carrying out the professional duties of a teacher, the Deputy pre-school Head will:
- Lead in the development of the curriculum for pre-school kids and ensure that parents are well informed about the curriculum and targets for improvement..
- Implement, monitor, evaluate, and review the curriculum in order to identify areas for improvement and set targets for individual pupils..
- monitor, evaluate, and track pupils’ learning to ensure pupils make the necessary progress using approved tools .
- Line-manage and team-lead members of the Nursery teams through individual and group support and supervision; and to undertake annual appraisals to set targets for their professional development..
Qualifications
- 5+ years’ experience as a senior pre-school /nursery school teacher
- Excellent communication and instructional skills.
- Diploma / Bachelor Degree in early childhood Education
- Montessori / Jolly phonic teaching experience is an added advantage
4. Deputy Head primary school
The Deputy Head of primary school will work with the Head of primary school and Head of the school to maintain an environment that promotes and secures excellent teaching, effective learning, high standards of achievement and excellent behavior. Duties and responsibilities of Preschool Teachers include developing and delivering interactive learning programs designed to engage and educate young children.
- Establish and enforce rules of behavior for children in their classrooms.
- Provide tools and resources for children to use and explore during learning and play activities.
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of children.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with children and parents.
Qualifications
- 2+ years’ experience as a senior pre-school/nursery teacher
- Excellent communication and instructional skills.
- Diploma / Bachelor Degree in early childhood Education

6. Primary school Teachers
Duties and responsibilities of Primary school Teachers include developing and delivering interactive learning programs designed to engage and educate young children, including:
- Teach literacy, social science, numeracy, creative expression as well as physical education skills to all primary school students..
- Develop students’ abilities, interests and coordinate through mode of creative activities.; Present subject matter utilizing range of teaching materials and techniques.; Guide discussions and supervise work in class..
- Test and analyze students for customized progress in oral and written work; Enforce personal development by supporting students to utilize and develop capabilities. Maintain and update attendance records as well as school discipline..

7. Head of Premises & Transportation
The Head of premises & transportation will be responsible for strategic and operational of school’s land, building, properties, premises and overall facilities management. He/she will oversee the operational and strategic setup of effective school bus transportation. Detail key responsibilities includes:-
- Properties and premises optimization, ensure optimal occupancy; Keep the school premises clean and habitable, responsible to manage cleaners and cleanness of the school including garden, landscape, classes, lab, etc..
- Supervise all repair and maintenance including plumbing, electrical, mechanical ;Supervise security guard and security systems, e.g. CCTV to ensure maximum security of the premises and assets of the school.
- Responsible for overall management of school bus transportation system including drivers, school buses, routes, etc..
- Responsible to ensure operational cost related to the activities above maintained within the budget.
Qualifications
- 4+ years’ experience in managing premises and transportation
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Diploma / Bachelor Degree in related field
